Shodōe
Shodōe is a 2D action RPG currently in development for Steam, created by a multidisciplinary team through a game incubator program. Built in Unity with fully original art and gameplay systems, the project focuses on fast-paced combat, meaningful progression, and highly replayable encounters within a hand-crafted fantasy world.

My Role
As Systems Designer and Combat Designer, I am responsible for designing the core gameplay experience, from combat mechanics and progression systems to enemy behaviors and long-term player engagement. I work closely with programmers and artists to transform design concepts into polished gameplay features through continuous iteration.
Combat & Systems
I designed the game's combat framework, defining player abilities, combat flow, enemy interactions, and balancing principles. My work also includes progression systems, gameplay mechanics, economy design, and reward structures that encourage experimentation while maintaining a satisfying difficulty curve.
Enemy Design & Gameplay
I designed the complete enemy roster, creating unique behaviors, attack patterns, strengths, and weaknesses to promote varied combat scenarios. Each encounter is built around distinct gameplay challenges, encouraging players to adapt their strategies rather than relying on repetitive solutions.
Iteration & Collaboration
Throughout development, I have documented gameplay systems, coordinated implementation with programmers, and refined mechanics through frequent playtesting. This iterative workflow allows us to rapidly evaluate new ideas, balance existing systems, and continuously improve the overall player experience.
Outcome
Shodōe remains in active development with a planned Steam release. The project continues to evolve through regular iteration, serving as an opportunity to design and polish production-quality gameplay systems within a long-term development environment.
