Enumera't

Enumera't is an educational game designed to help children aged 6 to 8 develop mental math skills through play. Inspired by the idea that learning should feel like an adventure rather than a classroom exercise, the game combines exploration, puzzles, and procedural math challenges within a world inspired by Catalan culture and folklore.

My Role

As Main Game Designer, I was responsible for defining the overall player experience, educational mechanics, progression, level design, narrative structure, and UX. My goal was to create a game that balanced effective learning with engaging gameplay while remaining accessible to young players.

Educational Design

The core gameplay revolves around dragging numbers to solve mathematical expressions with missing values. Rather than relying on repetitive exercises, the game introduces concepts progressively through exploration, contextual challenges, and procedural problem generation, encouraging experimentation and reinforcing learning through positive feedback.

Player Experience

Designing for a young audience required careful attention to usability, readability, and pacing. Every interaction was designed to be intuitive, while visual and audio feedback helped reinforce correct answers and reduce frustration after mistakes. Difficulty progression was structured to gradually build confidence without overwhelming the player.

World Building & Narrative

To create a more engaging educational experience, I designed the game's narrative around original characters and a fantasy world inspired by Catalan folklore. More than 50 dialogue lines were written to introduce mechanics naturally and maintain player motivation throughout the adventure.

Outcome

The project resulted in a playable prototype featuring three handcrafted levels, an Endless Mode, procedural arithmetic generation, handcrafted art, original typography, and more than 30 voice lines. Future development is planned to expand the educational content with multiplication, fractions, cooperative classroom activities, and additional game modes.
